Apple iOS 17: Learn How to Block Unwanted Nude Photos from incoming messages
The latest iOS 17 operating system from Apple offers improved privacy features for iPhone users, including an automatic block on incoming messages and files that could potentially contain sensitive content like nudity.
According to Macrumors, the new Opt-in obfuscation feature can be applied to sensitive images sent in Messages, AirDrop, Phone app contact posters, FaceTime messages, and third-party apps.
The feature prevents adult iPhone users from being exposed to unwanted images. All nudity will be blocked, but can be viewed by tapping the “View” button, the report said.
Warnings of sensitive content work like the Communication Safety function added by Apple for children. All identification is done on the device, so Apple cannot see the content being shared. The sensitive content warnings are an expansion of the communication safety options Apple introduced for children last year.
Communications Security detects and blocks Nudity before children can view it, and in iOS 17, this also expands to include AirDrop, the system-wide photo selector, FaceTime messages, and third-party apps, MacRumors reports.
Additionally, iOS 17 users can download parts of the map for offline use and navigation. To download a part of the map, users just need to select an area on their device and tap to download it. Apple claims that when offline, users now have the option to use turn-by-turn navigation while driving, walking, moving or cycling.
In addition, users can see their estimated time of arrival, find new places on maps and much more. The lack of offline maps has been a major drawback for many iPhone users, which is why they rely on rival Google Maps for navigation and pre-trip research.
iOS 17’s new offline maps feature proves especially useful in remote areas without cell service. However, it is important to note that Apple Maps only downloads a selected part of the map, so if users deviate from the pre-determined route, they may face difficulties as the offline data does not cover that area.
