Chance the Rapper to Talk About His Journey and Influence of Hip-Hop at Apple Store in Chicago
As part of an audio series commemorating the 50th anniversary of hip-hop, Chance the Rapper will guide customers at the Apple store in Chicago through his personal hip-hop journey.
Chance the Rapper is discussing becoming a rap star, the tech company announced Monday at Apple Michigan Avenue in his hometown. He will appear at the retail store on Wednesday at an event hosted by Today at Apple, which will offer free in-store tutorials on the devices and programs.
The Grammy winner is expected to discuss hip-hop’s influence on his life, including his venture as an independent artist and the 10th anniversary of his critically acclaimed Acid Rap mixtape. He talks with Ebro Darden, Apple Music’s VP of Hip-Hop and R&B.
Chance the Rapper said he wanted to celebrate the rap culture that “changed a generation and gave a voice to the voiceless.”
Throughout August and September, Today at Apple will host several events featuring artists from a variety of genres, including rappers, producers and DJs. The sessions are inspired by Apple Music’s Hip-Hop DNA, a 20-episode audio series.
Other sessions feature conversations with rappers Rapsody, Lola Brooke and LaRussell, and producers Just Blaze and Harry Fraud. Other sessions will cover racial equality and a live digital art competition.
The events are held at Apple stores in New York, Chicago and San Francisco.
“We can’t wait to welcome customers and music lovers to learn about the creative process of these incredible artists,” said Tracey Hannelly, Apple’s vice president of retail sales and marketing.
