Comparing the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 to the Galaxy Z Flip 4: What’s New and Improved?
Samsung has recently unveiled its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold5 and the Galaxy Z Flip5, during the Samsung Unpacked event held in Seoul. The company stated that the Galaxy Z Flip5 has undergone notable improvements compared to its predecessors, including the introduction of the innovative ‘Flex Window’ and the utilization of the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 for Galaxy.
In this article, we compare the specifications of the Galaxy Z Flip5 with the Galaxy Z Flip4 to check what’s new.
Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 Vs Galaxy Z Flip 5: Specifications and Features
The appearance of the Galaxy Z Flip5 has received the most significant updates of the two phones. The biggest upgrade is the larger display on the outer cover, which Samsung calls the “Flex Window.” The 3.4-inch display is 3.78 times larger than the cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip4, allowing for more customization options, including new watch styles that match the wearer’s Galaxy Watch6 series face design.
Samsung has also added support for widgets that allow users to check the weather, control music playback, and listen to music. Users can also check notifications and access Wi-Fi or Bluetooth quick settings.
The larger flip screen also has the benefit of allowing users to browse their call history to answer missed calls and reply to text messages using Quick Reply. Users can also access Samsung Wallet directly from the cover screen. Most of these functions simply weren’t possible with the Galaxy Z Flip 4 due to its smaller display on the outer cover.
Inside, the Galaxy Z Flip5 features a 6.7-inch FHD+ AMOLED panel that refreshes between 1-120Hz.
Like the Galaxy Z Fold5, the Galaxy Z Flip5 is also powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform for the Galaxy, and that means it too should get better performance, battery life and heat output compared to last year’s model.
The phone has a dual camera system with a 12-megapixel wide-angle lens and a 12-megapixel ultra-wide-angle lens. It also has a 10-megapixel selfie camera on its inner screen. While the camera system is largely unchanged from last year, Samsung claims its updated AI algorithms have improved features like Nightography, and a new AI-powered image signal processing algorithm reduces visual noise for better detail, which also helps the phone take better digital zoom. The Galaxy Z Flip5 comes in two variants: 8GB RAM and 256GB storage or 8GB RAM and 512GB storage. The 256GB version is now the base model – up from last year’s 128GB model. The battery capacity is still 3700 mAh, which is the same as the Galaxy Z Flip4.
Galaxy Z Flip5 will be available in mint, graphite, cream and lavender colors.
