Elon Musk Comments on Twitter’s Measures to Stop Data Scraping and System Manipulation
In a recent post on Twitter, Elon Musk revealed that the social media platform has implemented temporary reading limits as a measure to tackle the significant issue of data scraping and system manipulation.
Verified accounts will be temporarily limited to 6,000 messages per day, Musk said, adding that unverified accounts and new unverified accounts will be limited to 600 messages per day and 300 messages per day, respectively.
This comes after Twitter announced it would require users to have an account on the social media platform to view tweets, which Musk called a “temporary emergency measure” on Friday.
Musk had said that hundreds of organizations or more were scraping Twitter data “very aggressively,” affecting the user experience.
Musk had previously expressed his displeasure with AI companies such as ChatGPT owner OpenAI using Twitter data to train their large language models.
The social media platform had previously taken several steps to win back advertisers who had left Twitter for Musk and boost subscription revenue by making endorsements part of the Twitter Blue program.
