OnePlus’ foldables will be available in India for open sale from October 27.
OnePlus Open: 5 things you need to know about this foldable phone
The black OnePlus Open has a vegan leather back and feels really premium. OnePlus Open is very light, weighing only 239 grams and measuring 5.8 mm when opened. Whether it is closed or open, the smartphone sits firmly in the hand. On the back of the device is a large circular camera module that offers Hasselblad-backed triple cameras.
The latest foldable also features the traditional OnePlus alarm slider. The size of the slider has been increased, its position in the central frame of the device has been adjusted, which makes it easier to use with one hand.
OnePlus Open comes with a Flexion Hinge mechanism that makes it light, compact, easy to use and durable.
Coming to the display, the OnePlus Open features a 7.82-inch Flexi-fluid AMOLED main display and a 6.31-inch 2K liquid AMOLED ProXDR cover display, both with a refresh rate of up to 120Hz. The cover display here is excellent (comfortable to use compared to Samsung’s Galaxy Fold 5). I didn’t really find the need to open the interior display until I switched to multitasking.
When folded, the OnePlus Open’s crease is almost invisible, making it one of the best I’ve seen on a foldable phone. The main screen of this OnePlus foldable reminds me of the Oppo Find N Fold that I tested in 2021, as it also had no crease on the main screen.
The device is powered by a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset paired with 16GB of RAM and 512GB of non-expandable storage. OnePlus Open runs on Android 14 and Oxygen OS 13.2 and features an open canvas for enhanced multitasking.
The software is tuned to be compatible with the foldable, which means multi-screen support and offers smoothness for a seamless experience. More importantly, OnePlus announced that the foldable phone will get 4 years of OS updates and 5 years of security updates.
The OnePlus Open has a triple rear camera system consisting of a 48-megapixel OIS sensor, a 48-megapixel ultra-wide sensor and a 64-megapixel telephoto sensor, also with OIS.
The display on the cover has a 32-megapixel shooter, while the folded version has a 20-megapixel camera. And finally, you have a 4805mAh battery that supports 67W fast wired charging, but there is no wireless charging on the device.
