Format Your Text Like a Pro: WhatsApp Introduces New Web Tools
Meta-owned instant messaging platform WhatsApp has released new text formatting tools to improve messaging features that support code blocking, quoting specific text, and creating text lists.
“Following successful testing with a select group of beta testers over the last few weeks, it appears that WhatsApp is now broadly offering more users the ability to apply new formatting styles to their text messages: code blocks, quote blocks, and lists,” WABetaInfo reported.
According to the report, the latest updates bring several new text formatting options that will improve the way users customize the look and layout of their posts. A screenshot revealed by WABetaInfo gives us a glimpse of these new text formatting tools,
1. Codeblock: This tool is mainly designed to make it easier for users to share code on WhatsApp. Although it is commonly used by software engineers and programmers, it can be used by all users in different situations, even to emphasize messages better.
Format your text as a block of code using backticks (`) between the desired text.
2. Quote block: The quote block is useful when responding to a specific part of a previous message. You can create a quotation block by adding the “>” sign before the text to be quoted.
3. Lists: Lists provide a clear way to organize information. You can create ordered lists by adding one of the following characters before the text: “*”, “-” or numbers.
“We think the addition of these new text formatting tools is a significant improvement to the user experience of sharing text messages. These tools make it easier for users to apply a new style to their messages, whether it’s a casual conversation or a more formal conversation,” the report states.
New text formatting tools are now available to more WhatsApp Web beta testers and will be rolling out to more users soon.
