Future ChatGPT models will likely replace many human tasks
Future versions of ChatGPT could replace many tasks currently performed by humans, leading AI researcher and cognitive scientist Ben Goertzel has warned.
Known for developing Sophia the Robot, Goertzel believes the new big language models that power generative artificial intelligence will change the world, reports ZDNet.
“You don’t have to be incredibly creative and innovative or make great leaps and bounds to do most people’s jobs, it turns out,” Goertzel said.
Automated AI tools can lead to industrial restructuring and redistribution of work tasks.
Artificial intelligence is already affecting fast food workers, copy editors and designers.
“Tools like Grammarly reduce the need for people to have copy editors,” Goertzel said.
Chinese marketing and PR agency BlueFocus is replacing third-party copywriters, designers and short-term contractors to fully embrace generative AI like ChatGPT.
Following the success of ChatGPT, apps with the word “AI Chatbot” or “AI Chat” in the app name, subtitle, or description in both Google and Apple’s app stores have grown a whopping 1,480 percent (year-over-year) in the first quarter of this year.
According to analytics company Apptopia, just this year (up to March), 158 such apps have hit app stores.
However, jobs where human contact is essential, such as preschool teachers, political strategists and artists, do not become obsolete.
Today’s generative AIs “can mimic general AIs because they only have such a wide range of training data. They don’t have to go much beyond the training data to do amazing things. That’s a testament to the power of computer networks and multi-GPU server farms,” he said.
