Government warns Google Chrome users of high-risk alert! Learn how to update your browser
India’s Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In) has issued a high-risk alert for Google Chrome users due to security concerns. The advisory urges immediate action to address vulnerabilities in the desktop version of the browser that could be exploited by remote attackers to execute arbitrary code on affected systems.
High risk alert for Google Chrome users
According to CERT-In, these vulnerabilities affect versions of Google Chrome earlier than version 122.0.6261.57 on Windows, Mac, and Linux platforms. Due to the severity of these bugs, Google released an urgent update. The latest version of Chrome includes fixes for 12 security issues, two of which were classified as very serious, five as moderate, and one as weak. In recognition of the researchers who discovered these vulnerabilities, Google awarded $28,000 in bug bounties.
To protect against possible attacks, CERT-In recommends Google Chrome users to update their browser to the latest version immediately.
