The head of Google confirms that AI-centric features will find users
Google is bringing AI-centric features to search for all users and it will make the search engine more efficient, as Google CEO Sundar Pichai recently claimed in an interview with the WSJ. Falling behind Microsoft in the AI chatbot race, Google has partnered with OpenAI to use ChatGPT’s advanced capabilities.
Google announced the Bard AI chatbot earlier, but initial feedback has raised more concerns than positives. Pichai confirms that it wants to integrate AI into the search engine, but the timeline for the launch of support is unclear, and Pichai interestingly does not say whether Bard AI will also be a search-enhancing chatbot. In fact, he points out, AI chatbots are not a threat to search and will thrive with generative AI technology for years to come.
Google has not yet fully utilized the power of artificial intelligence and offer it in Search and other products. We’ve seen basic AI features introduced in Gmail and Docs, but it’s fair to say that they don’t compare to the advances ChatGPT has recently offered through Bing search, Outlook and even OneNote.
Google has wanted to reveal more information and understandably so. Bard has given alarming responses to people’s queries, and the company has faced internal doubts about whether Bard is ready for a full-scale launch. ChatGPT is now at version 4.0 while other companies catch up with its progress.
That’s not all, you now have different ChatGPT plugins, which means that the chatbot can access the Internet and give you answers on different platforms and devices. Google has been a big name in the AI arena for many years, so it’s possible that the company will finally pull up its socks and launch a product that not only competes in the market, but also serves consumers in the right way.
