Hide Your AI Shortcut: WhatsApp Android Users Get New Privacy Option!
WhatsApp, the instant messaging app, is reportedly rolling out a feature that will hide the Meta AI shortcut from the Chats tab. They created this shortcut to make it easier for users to access AI-powered conversations directly from the Chats tab. However, due to user complaints, the platform has now given users the option to hide these shortcuts if they wish.
“The shortcut was implemented to increase user awareness of this feature so that people can integrate AI interactions into their regular use of the app. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.15 update available on the Google Play Store, we noticed that WhatsApp is implementing a feature to hide such a shortcut” , WABetaInfo reported.
According to the report, a new switch will be available in chat settings that will allow users to disable the new shortcut to open Meta’s AI chat from the Chats tab, which was released in the previous update. This toggle is very important because the shortcut to open a conversation with the Meta AI assistant was always visible, and now more users can finally disable it.
However, this shortcut is only available if you already have access to AI chats. Otherwise, you will have to wait for a future update of the app.
The report suggested that allowing users to disable this option would have a significant benefit in terms of user experience. Many users complained about the new shortcut that quickly opened a conversation with Meta AI.
“This is because they don’t want to use Meta’s AI service and want to limit their use of the app to interacting with friends, colleagues, and family. Also, many people found the new shortcut visually unappealing for an app that was recently redesigned to offer a more modern interface,” WABetaInfo said.
The ability to hide the Meta AI shortcut from the Conversations tab is currently available to select beta testers who install the latest WhatsApp beta for Android update from the Google Play Store. The rollout of this feature will expand to more users in the coming days.
