IIT-Affiliated Company to Launch Smart Ring for Health Monitoring and Contactless Payments Worldwide
Founded out of the IIT Madras Incubation Cell, Bengaluru-based startup Muse Wearables has developed Ring One, a smart ring equipped with advanced fitness tracking features and contactless payment capabilities.
‘Ring One’ is slated for a worldwide release on September 27, while its India release will take place on October 25. However, the product’s website is now open for pre-booking. According to the company, the ‘Ring One’ is not only a technological marvel but also a testament to the ‘Make in India’ campaign as the product is completely designed, engineered and assembled in India.
Ring One can measure six vital health indicators, including heart rate, blood oxygen, temperature, respiratory rate, heart rate variability and blood pressure. According to Muse Wearables, the Ring One provides clinical accuracy for health data trained on data from over 4,000 individuals.
Muse Wearables CTO George Francis said the Ring One detects sleep and naps, analyzes sleep stages and provides personalized insights to improve sleep. “It can also track your workouts and give you advanced metrics to optimize your fitness. It can measure the impact of your relaxation sessions and help you reduce your stress levels with tailored insights.”
However, it also offers the convenience of contactless payments. Apparently, users can easily complete transactions with a simple palm. The company announced that it has partnered with major payment networks such as MasterCard, VISA, and Rupay to make Ring One payments available globally, and such payments can be made in India, the United States, Canada, Europe, Australia, Singapore, and the United Arab Emirates. .
Characteristics of ‘Ring One’
10 times lighter than a smartwatch for comfortable 24/7 use:
• Accurate measurements of health data.
• Discreet and stylish design.
• Trouble-free operation.
• 24/7 health monitoring with a battery life of up to 7 days.
• Convenient payments at your fingertips.
• Cuffless blood pressure measurement.
The Ring One features a unique design with a ‘Turn Wheel’ connector and an innovative ‘Magic Glyph’ connector on its charging case. As for Turn Wheel, users can change the outer band of the smart tire with a simple turn between different modes, such as a turn to the left can start a training mode or a turn to the right enables a secure payment option. The Magic Glyph conveys charge levels and acts as a timer, sleep alarm, or an indicator to let you know when the end time has begun.
In addition, it is made of titanium Grade 2 and ceramic (zirconia), and is light but very strong. The ring is waterproof up to 100 meters, so users can swim and shower without removing it. This unique accessory is available in silver, black, gold and rose gold versions, with 18K gold versions designed in limited editions.
Notably, Muse Wearables, which has registered offices in Chennai, Singapore and the US, specializes in payment-capable hybrid smartwatches and currently serves nearly 30 countries through a direct-to-consumer business model. Founded by graduates of IIT Madras and NIT Warangal, this startup is funded by prominent investors.
KLN Sai Prasanth, Founder and CEO of Conzumex Industries, which operates the Muse Wearables brand, said, “The innovative technology that has gone into the Ring One makes the smart tire industry a benchmark across the globe. With the unique Turn wheel interface and the all-new Magic Glyph interface of the charging case, the Ring One offers a truly unique experience that sets it apart from all other competitors on the market.
