Indian-American Neal Mohan will take over as YouTube’s new CEO, as current CEO Susan Wojcicki has announced her departure after a successful 9-year stint at the helm of the video-sharing site.
Neal Mohan, YouTube’s current Product Director, joined Google in 2008. He is an alumnus of Stanford University and previously worked at Microsoft.
Susan Wojcicki, who spent nine years as CEO of YouTube, is moving into an advisory role at Google and Alphabet with CEO Sundar Pichai.

“Mohan will become YouTube’s SVP and new leader. I’ve worked with Mohan for nearly 15 years of my career. He first came to Google with the DoubleClick acquisition in 2007 and his role grew to head of display and video advertising,” Wojcicki said.
Neal Mohan’s induction as CEO of YouTube adds to the growing list of highly sought-after Indian-American executives who have served as top executives at well-known technology companies. Notable names include PepsiCo’s Indra Nooyi, Microsoft’s Satya Nadella and Google’s own Sundar Pichai.
