Microsoft's new Bing, powered by OpenAI, appears to be experiencing downtime across the globe. Here's what we know.News

The new ChatGPT-powered Bing search is intermittent, giving users an error trying to reconnect

It’s been almost two weeks since its launch, but the new OpenAI-powered Bing seems to be experiencing downtime all over the world. Users who try to use the search engine get an error message that says “Trying to reconnect…” and are unable to use the service.

According to Downdetector, a website that tracks service outages by aggregating status updates from multiple sources – including user reports on their platform – has revealed that around 81% of users were unable to perform a chat search using the recently launched Bing search engine. The outage reportedly started at 5:30 a.m. and ended around 6:30 a.m.

Many Twitter users made similar observations. One user said: “Actually, Bing/Sydney just seems to be down now.” Another user wrote: “I wonder if it’s just user rotation. It was gone for me the previous 24 hours but has been working for the last couple of hours.”

Several publications, including GadgetsNow, have confirmed that they are currently unable to use the new Bing search engine, and Microsoft has so far not acknowledged the outage.
