What Other Innovations is Elon Musk Bringing to X? Get the Details Here
X, previously known as Twitter, is set to introduce numerous banking and finance features, including payment-related options, in 2024. Elon Musk has frequently expressed his intention to transform X into an all-encompassing application, similar to China’s WeChat and Alipay. This means that the integration of financial services with social media should come as no surprise. However, an all-in-one app entails more than just payment capabilities; it also requires a wide range of other services. Therefore, it is worth exploring what Musk has in store for X.
New services and features coming soon to X
Among the first could be a news delivery service. According to a Bloomberg report, the service will be called XWire, and it was revealed at the same joint meeting where the payment information came from.
“The duo also hinted at efforts to create a news service called XWire to compete with Cision’s PR Newswire,” Bloomberg quoted sources as saying.
The Information’s report also highlights plans by Musk and X CEO Linda Yaccarino to add shopping and sports features to the platform as well. Shopping makes a lot of sense and is a logical successor to payment features because people also need something to transact in-app.
However, it is not clear what the sporting characteristics may actually be. It could be sports streaming, sports broadcasts, commentary or even fantasy features. Not much is known about this.
Also, gaming could be another feature, as Musk himself has talked about it during one of the Diablo IV gameplay streams. He said he wants to bring streamers who stream games on Twitch, YouTube or Kick exclusively to X.
Another area the company is working on is vertical video scrolling. Currently, you can open a video in X and then just scroll down to see related videos one by one, like TikTok or Instagram Reels. However, you will notice that the lengths of the videos are not consistent and the algorithm is not too good right now.
Musk has also apparently set a goal of 2024 for X to have a banking system. He says he wants X to replace the banks.
Musk and Yaccarino have both said they are working to improve these features. Once it’s ready, Musk may also integrate ads and allow users to make purchases from them without having to leave the app. But these are all on X’s bucket list, and we’re yet to see any of these features materialize on the platform.
