Instagram to Introduce Group Mention Feature for Stories
Instagram Group Mention: Meta-owned popular photo and video sharing social media platform Instagram is reportedly developing a new group mention feature that will allow users to tag more than one person in a story with a single mention.
In a recent update on his broadcast channel, Adam Mosseri, head of Instagram, announced a new feature for testing. “Once you’ve created a group mention, anyone in the group can reuse it to automatically tag everyone in new stories. “So if you’re on a summer trip with friends, it’s easier to include everyone without having to tag each person individually,” he said.
This feature is useful because tagging multiple people with a single mention makes stories clearer and less cluttered, providing a better viewing experience for followers.
At the same time, Meta is also releasing an updated Instagram app for Samsung Galaxy Z Fold devices, designed specifically for foldable displays. This update fixes odd aspect ratio and layout issues in previous versions. The new user interface places navigation options such as homepage, search, new post, reels, profile, likes and messages on the left side.
Most importantly, the new update ensures that the content fits well on larger screens. Reels are now displayed correctly without black bars, and moving between stories, photos and the app is much smoother.
Last week, the platform had launched a feature to better protect users from unwanted DM requests. With this feature, people who want to send DM requests to users who aren’t following them face two new restrictions.
First, users can send just one message to someone who doesn’t follow them, instead of sending them an infinite number of DM requests. Second, DM invitations are now text-only, meaning users can only send pictures, videos, or audio messages to people who aren’t following them after the recipient accepts the invitation to chat.
