Alerts from unknown international senders
iPhone users will now receive alerts about messages sent from unknown international senders. The new updated ChatKit in iOS 17.6 shows “this message is from an unknown international sender” instead of “the sender is not in your contact list”. This improves security and gives users more information about potential senders.
Schedule news with the Live function of the News application
With the new iOS 17.6, users can schedule live action in the News app. Now users can schedule live activities like elections in advance. The live action feature was introduced in iOS 17.2 and underwent minor updates in iOS 17.5.
The “Siri & Dictation” menu was renamed to Siri
The “Siri & Dictation” menu has been renamed to “Siri” in the new iOS 17.6 update. Users can find the “Siri” option in the app list in the settings. After selecting it, users will get “Ask next time or when I share” option. If selected, the user will have to choose between “Allow once”, “Allow while using the app” and “Don’t allow” each time they ask Siri location-related questions. This will be repeated if they select Allow once.

Apple Card displays new alert messages
Apple Card users will see a warning on the dashboard about locking Apple Card accounts if it detects a bankruptcy filing or other discrepancies. This alert will soon be available in Apple Pay as well. Previously, users were told about the reasons for locking Apple Card accounts from customer support.
Bug fixes and security updates
Last but not least, iOS 17.6 includes minor bug fixes and updates to improve security. While Apple does not disclose fixed bugs, it will release security updates when iOS 17.6 becomes publicly available.
