iPhone users may soon have isolation technology for voice calls
Apple continues to improve voice calling on iPhones, but some of you will agree that the improvements are evident with third-party features like FaceTime, rather than regular voice calls. But the company plans to soon fulfill the wishes of iPhone users by offering clearer voice calls through the iPhone’s native calling app.
Apple is preparing iOS 16.4 and the beta version gives us a clear idea of the changes that iPhone users can expect with the public release later.
The next version of iOS brings a bunch of new features, but the one that has caught our attention is the Voice Isolation technology. Apple has offered this feature for FaceTime calls since last year, and soon all iPhone calls will also support the technology.
Apple had so far limited the feature to calling apps like FaceTime, but soon even calls made over cellular networks will be compatible.
Apple claims that the sound isolation technology helps eliminate background noise during a call, resulting in clearer sound quality. You also had to manually enable the option from the iPhone settings, which is why many iPhone users would not have been aware of this useful feature. We’re curious to see how the feature works for all voice calls on the iPhone, and whether Apple will enable it by default or whether there will be different modes for users to choose.
iOS 16.4 also includes other additions, including a new classic version of Apple Music available at no additional cost to existing subscribers. You also get bug fixes, efficiency and new emoticons. Apple also helps to remove duplicate photos and videos from iCloud Shared Photo library after this update on iPhones.
