Know what is coming: WhatsApp Web to introduce ‘Favourites’ filter for convenient access to chats
In February 2024, WhatsApp will celebrate ten years of being owned by Meta and being part of its social media app family. Over the past decade, the messaging platform has undergone numerous transformations in its quest to become the dominant messaging method, surpassing SMS. Exciting reports suggest that WhatsApp Web, the web version of the platform, will soon introduce a new feature called ‘Favourites’ filter, enabling users to organize their chats more efficiently.
WhatsApp Web – An upcoming feature
According to a report by WABetaInfo, WhatsApp recently pushed a new update through the TestFlight beta program, bringing the version to WhatsApp beta for iOS 24.3.10.70. Along with this update, the platform is also aiming to bring a new feature to WhatsApp Web that will allow users to notify their chosen contacts of the Favorites filter. With this feature, WhatsApp Web users can choose which contacts to favorite and prioritize the filter.
The report further states that this feature is currently under development and will likely arrive with future WhatsApp Web updates.
This development comes shortly after WABetaInfo revealed another upcoming iOS app WhatsApp feature that will allow users to set their favorite contacts to quickly make calls from the Calls tab, meaning you can contact your favorite skin without going through multiple options!
New dark mode
In addition to the upcoming Favorites filter, WhatsApp Web is said to also get a revamped dark mode. WABetaInfo reported that with this move, WhatsApp aims to better match its aesthetics with the Android app, which caters to the preferences of dark theme enthusiasts. The refined color scheme follows in the footsteps of the Android app’s dark mode update, emphasizing the importance of a consistent look across all platforms.
