Samsung Galaxy S24 Ultra Rumored to Feature Flat Display, Dimensions Leaked
Samsung’s next-generation Galaxy S24 phones are expected to launch in early 2024, and now that the Galaxy S23 series has been on sale for nearly seven months, rumors of future models are starting to emerge. According to IceUniverse, which has a pretty reliable track record when it comes to leaks, Samsung’s next big flagship, the Galaxy S24 Ultra, may feature a flat AMOLED display instead of a curved one like the outgoing flagship Galaxy S23 Ultra.
IceUniverse notes that the phone’s width and additional specs point towards the Galaxy S24 Ultra, which offers a flat screen. “Based on the 79mm width and some other information, the S24 Ultra is likely to be a flat screen,” IceUniverse posted on X (the platform formerly known as Twitter).
He also said that the Galaxy S24 Ultra could have the following dimensions: 162.3mm x 79mm x 8.6mm. And it may have a 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a resolution of 3120×1440 and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9.
“If the information is not wrong, we can draw a sketch of what the S24 Ultra will look like. It’s amazing how wide the frame has ever been,” IceUniverse added.
It should be noted that Samsung’s Galaxy S23 and Galaxy S23 Plus already have flat screens, so it is possible that Samsung will give up the curved screen for its flagship phone as well.
According to related news, the Samsung Galaxy S24 models – including the Galaxy S24, Galaxy S24+ and Galaxy S24 Ultra – could use a new material called M13 in their OLED displays. According to the South Korean publication Chosun, the new M13 panels offer better, higher quality than Samsung’s M12 technology, more compact and efficient.
Additionally, Samsung may also re-introduce its in-house Exynos chipsets, according to Chosun’s report, as the Galaxy S24 series is rumored to get the Exynos 2400 SoC in certain markets. In particular, the current Galaxy S23 series only offers Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 as a chip option in all regions where the phone is sold.
