Secure Your Chats in a Flash: WhatsApp Introduces Two New iPhone Shortcuts!

Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is releasing two shortcuts to quickly lock chats, allowing users to quickly lock chats directly from the chat list.

“After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.24.10.78 update available on TestFlight, we noticed that WhatsApp is rolling out these shortcuts to the iOS app as well,” WABetaInfo reported.

According to the report, some beta testers now have access to a new shortcut that allows them to quickly lock conversations directly from the chat list. To access these features, open your chat settings and check if this shortcut is already available on your account.

In addition, WhatsApp is improving the process of locking chats by introducing a separate switch on the chat information screen. This toggle also provides users with a more intuitive way to lock their chats.

“In previous updates, users had to browse through a separate chat details section to enable chat locks. The latest update makes the process more efficient with a dedicated toggle,” WABetaInfo said.

The report suggested that these two shortcuts provide a significant advantage to the chat locking process. In particular, the introduction of a shortcut to lock chats directly from the chat settings ensures that even those users who may not have previously discovered this feature are now aware of the option to lock their chats.

This process also reduces the number of steps required to lock or unlock a chat, improving the user experience. “The addition of these shortcuts reflects WhatsApp’s commitment to improving user privacy and making privacy features more intuitive,” the report said.

Two shortcuts to quickly lock chats are available to some beta testers who install WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app, and will roll out to more people in the coming days.
