Threads App Introduces Editing and Voice Threads Functionality
Meta’s social media platform, Threads, previously known as Twitter, has been consistently introducing fresh features. The latest additions include a web client and the ability to search for posts using keywords. In a recent update, the platform has now incorporated two significant features: post editing and the inclusion of audio posts, known as Voice Threads, powered by Instagram. Notably, the editing feature is accessible to all users at no cost, unlike its competitor X, which restricts it to X Blue subscribers who pay a monthly fee of $7.99.
The feature update was given by Instagram head Adam Mosseri in a Threads post, where he said, “We’re rolling out two new features to Threads this week. You can edit a thread up to five minutes after it’s been posted, and you can share your thoughts using a voice thread. Try it out and let me know what you think.”

Threads gets new features
The edit message feature works the same as it does in X currently. Once you’ve made a post, you can edit it for up to five minutes. When text has been edited, it has a unique mark in the upper right corner to indicate that it has been edited. However, there is one difference between Threads and X’s feature. Threads does not offer edit history at this time. For the uninitiated, it’s a single window where users can see changes made to a post. In addition, the company also does not seek to increase the edit history, The Verge quoted Meta spokesperson Christine Pai.
Voice Threads is another interesting feature. You can access it from the same place where you typically write messages. You will now see a microphone icon next to the photo icon. Tap it and it will open a window with a huge red circle. Press it and say what you want, lift your finger and it will stop recording.
Threads also adds live captions to your voice messages, and when it’s published, the text will also appear. Although it wasn’t specifically mentioned, I tried the feature and found that it only supports English and Spanish as languages so far. There could be more languages, but Hindi is not one of them.
