Twitter CEO’s First Email Send to Staff Since Taking Office
Linda Yaccarino, the newly appointed CEO of Twitter, has addressed the company’s employees in her first email titled “Building Twitter 2.0 Together”. She emphasized the company’s goal of becoming the “global town square” as stated by her boss Elon Musk and acknowledged the need for transformation.
“From space exploration to electric vehicles, Elon knew these industries needed change, so he did,” Yaccarino wrote in a memo on Monday, according to the Verge.
“Recently, it has become increasingly clear that the global city square needs a transformation – to move civilization forward through the unfiltered exchange of information and open dialogue about the issues that matter most to us.”
He also mentioned that the microblogging platform has “a mission to become the world’s most accurate real-time information source and a global town square for communication.”
Twitter’s new CEO is NBCUniversal’s former head of Global Advertising and Partnerships.
According to Musk, he will be responsible for everything else as he continues to lead Twitter’s design and product teams.
His main task will be rebuilding the platform’s ad business, which has collapsed since Musk took over, according to the report.
Yaccarino took over as Twitter’s new CEO last week, freeing Musk to focus on Tesla and SpaceX after Twitter’s US ad sales fell 59 percent in April and May didn’t look bright either.
