Two Exciting Features Coming to WhatsApp Channels!

Popular messaging app WhatsApp is planning to introduce a channel warning screen in case they decide to shut down your channel. Recently, a new report revealed that the Meta-owned platform is also developing a feature that will allow channel owners to request a review of their frozen channels.

“The WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.10 update revealed that channel owners can now specify the reason for the review, improving the moderation process. The latest update, WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.25.16, available on the Google Play Store, reveals further improvements to this feature in the future,” WABetaInfo reported.

According to the report, WhatsApp is going to introduce a channel alert screen if they decide to close your channel. It is worth mentioning that WhatsApp had already released the channel alert screen a few months back with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.20.9 update.

They are also working on updating the screen to include an option to request a review of a frozen channel. Currently, channels can be suspended for policy violations, and the ability to request a review will be added in the future. A process with the possibility to request a review of a frozen channel makes the platform more transparent.

WhatsApp channels must follow the policies set by the platform. If a channel violates these policies, it may be suspended. During the freeze, the channel link is disabled, current Followers cannot access the channel history, and new updates cannot be shared.

However, channel owners are requested to request a review to view their frozen channels again. This is important because a channel can be wrongly suspended because algorithmic decisions may not accurately reflect policy violations based on human review.

WhatsApp is developing a feature that will allow channel owners to request a review of their frozen channels, and it is expected to be available in a future update of the app.
