‘Unpacking’ App to be Available on Phones and Tablets Later in 2021
Unpacking, which made its debut on PC in fall 2021, is now set to launch on mobile devices. Witch Beam Games, the developer of the popular game, announced during the Wholesome Direct showcase that it will release the game on phones and tablets later this year. While the studio did not specify the exact release date or whether the game will be available on both iOS and Android, the trailer suggests that it will be available on Apple devices.
Hope you all were paying attention during #WholesomeDirect, because we had a pretty big announcement—that’s right, ✨ UNPACKING IS COMING TO PHONES AND TABLETS!! ✨ We can’t wait for you all to experience it and take Unpacking with you on the go later this year! 📦 🔜 📱 pic.twitter.com/Y1tEr3vlnZ

The announcement comes notably after Unpacking Master, an almost identical copy of Unpacking that included ads and in-app microtransactions, briefly topped the App Store charts early last year before Apple pulled it. The case highlighted the difficulty small studios have in preventing copycat developers from stealing their work. If you’re the impatient type, Unpacking is currently available on Steam, Nintendo Switch, Xbox, and PlayStation.
