US Lawsuit Alleges Samsung QLED TVs are Defective

Industry sources have revealed that a class-action lawsuit has been initiated against Samsung Electronics and Best Buy in the United States regarding Samsung’s QLED 4K televisions.

The lawsuit was filed by Ray Kim Law in California Central Court, reports Yonhap News Agency.

The suit alleges that some Samsung QLED 4K TVs are not equipped with Motion Xcelerator Turbo+, FreeSync or HDMI 2.1 as advertised.

The features are said to enable a smooth gaming experience. Motion Xcelerator Turbo+ is a feature that increases the frame rate of content by inserting new frames between existing frames to make content appear smoother.

For example, if a user plays a video with a frame rate of 60 frames per second on a TV with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, this feature can increase the frame rate of the content to 120 fps to match the frame rate of the video. TV.

FreeSync is a technology developed by AMD that synchronizes the refresh rate of the screen with the frame rate of the content. HDMI 2.1 is the latest version that supports the transfer of content up to 4K resolution and 120 frames per second or 8K resolution and 60 frames per second.

It was the first time the South Korean tech giant has faced a consumer class action lawsuit over TV products since 2018, when the lawsuit alleged that certain Samsung LED TVs overheated and became unusable.
