Vaishnaw and Xiaomi Join Forces to Launch Smartphone Manufacturing Unit at Dixon Technologies!
Dixon Technologies, a leading electronics manufacturing services company, has unveiled its state-of-the-art smartphone manufacturing facility in Noida, which was inaugurated by Union IT Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw.
The facility, operated by Dixon’s subsidiary Padget Electronics Private Limited, is ready to manufacture Xiaomi smartphones, strengthening India’s local smartphone manufacturing landscape.
A crucial step towards domestic value addition in smartphones is represented by the Rs 256 crore facility spread over 2.7 lakh sq ft with a production capacity of 25 million units per annum.
Dixon Technologies CEO Sunil Vachani expressed his enthusiasm for the facility’s advanced infrastructure and emphasized its importance in strengthening local smartphone production. “It is an important step towards our commitment to enhance the local smartphone manufacturing system in India. We believe this association will leverage our excellence and superior performance and Xiaomi’s expertise and leadership in the Indian business ecosystem,” Vachani said.
Atul Lall, vice president and CEO of Dixon Technologies, emphasized the importance of cooperation in nurturing a strong technology ecosystem and promoting local manufacturing. “We have a five-year partnership with Xiaomi India and we are excited to begin this new chapter that exemplifies the synergy between our two organizations,” he added.
Union Minister Vaishnaw highlighted the institution’s role in creating employment opportunities, estimating the creation of 5,000 jobs. He attributed this growth to the Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, which has helped create 5 lakh jobs in the smartphone industry.
