WhatsApp brings a new feature to mute calls from unknown numbers: Learn more
Good news for WhatsApp users around the world, the Meta-owned instant messaging app plans to release an important new feature on its platform in the coming months. According to a new report, WhatsApp is working on a new feature to mute calls from unknown numbers.
“WhatsApp is developing a new feature that will allow users to silence calls from unknown numbers and still show them in the call list and notification center for a future update to the app. This feature has several benefits, including reducing interference and potentially avoiding spam calls,” WABetaInfo, which follows WhatsApp, reported.
The report mentioned that the Meta-owned messaging app is actually working on a new feature that will allow users to silence calls from unknown numbers. The switch is located in the app’s settings, and when enabled, calls from unknown numbers will always be muted, but will still appear in the call list and notification center.
This new feature can also help users reduce spam calls significantly: in recent years, spam calls have become a growing problem for scammers and their unwanted calls, and instant messaging apps are no exception, according to the report.
Currently, WhatsApp offers the ability to block and report these callers, but this feature will ultimately allow users to avoid receiving calls from unknown numbers by muting those that are often associated with spam calls. The ability to mute unknown callers is a feature under development that will be released in a future update of the app.
In related news, WhatsApp is working on a revamp of the iOS attachment menu, which is expected to bring it in line with the attachment menu already available on WhatsApp for Android. A new chat attachment menu is currently under development and is expected to be released in a future update of the app.
