WhatsApp Brings ‘Call Links’ Feature to Windows App: Here’s How It Works
Good news for WhatsApp users: The popular instant messaging app owned by Meta is rolling out a new update to its native app for Windows. The instant messaging platform is said to release the ability to create a link to the call of some beta testers.
“The team is releasing an improvement to WhatsApp calls by introducing a new feature: call links. This feature allows anyone to join a call by opening a link. It’s coming in the latest WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2307.3.0 update to the Microsoft Store,” WABetaInfo, a website that follows WhatsApp, reports.
According to the report, the new call link option is available in the calls tab, so you need to open this section of the app to find out if this feature is enabled in your WhatsApp account. If you want to use this feature, you can choose the call type between audio and video.
Also, you can copy the link to share it with WhatsApp chats to quickly invite people to join the call.
Whenever you create a new call link, the URL is always unique, so no one can join your private call without your approval. The call link feature makes it easy to invite people to join a WhatsApp call without adding them to your contacts, the report added.
This feature can be useful for one-off calls with people you may not know very well, but only with those you shared the link with. In addition, it is a versatile option because the link can be shared with others externally.
The new call link option has been released to beta testers after installing the WhatsApp beta for Windows 2.2307.1.0 update available from the Microsoft Store. If you don’t see this update in the Microsoft Store, note that it will be rolling out to more users in the coming days, WABetaInfo said.
