WhatsApp new features
According to a report by Android Authority, WhatsApp is currently working on five new features that are expected to roll out in the coming months. Speculated features include group events, default media download quality settings, video fast forward and rewind, a composer for status updates, and privacy features for avatars. - Group Events: Just like we schedule meetings on Google Calendar, WhatsApp is rumored to let users create events from audio and video calls. A scheduled event allows users to create an event link through which group members can join the call. Group events allow users to create an event by adding titles, descriptions, dates, locations, and more.
- Media Upload Quality: With future updates, WhatsApp may allow users to set their default media download quality. This allows users to send HD quality images and videos. WABetaInfo discovered this new feature when the feature was made available to beta testers.
- Avatar privacy feature: To improve users’ security and privacy, WhatsApp can allow users to control who can use their avatar as a sticker. WhatsApp users can select My Contacts, Selected Contacts and Nobody.
- Fast forward and rewind videos: This feature has started rolling out for iOS users, allowing users to fast forward and rewind simply by double-clicking on the smartphone screen. In addition, users can quickly record and send videos to the chat by long pressing the camera icon.
- Status Composer: WhatsApp may include a new status composer that will allow users to choose whether they want to use text, video, and photo writing.
