WhatsApp Developing Companion Mode For iPad Users: Here’s What You Need To Know

Apple enthusiasts can rejoice as WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is said to be developing a feature that will allow the popular instant messaging app to be used on iPads as a companion device.

This feature allows users to link up to 4 devices to their account while maintaining a level of privacy and security thanks to end-to-end encryption. The feature will be available in a future update of the app.

We announced that WhatsApp is launching Companion Mode, which will allow users to link an additional iOS device to an existing WhatsApp account. After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.12.12 available from the Google Play Store, we found that WhatsApp is now working to add compatibility with the iPad as a new linked device that will be available in the future,” WABetaInfo, a website that follows WhatsApp, reported.

According to a screenshot shared by WABetaInfo, the iPad has finally been recognized as a linked device in the beta update. This means you can connect WhatsApp for iPad to your existing account in the future.

It should be noted that WhatsApp for iPad is still under development and not yet available to beta testers. However, once it’s released, you can finally link your existing WhatsApp account on Android to iPad.

“Since WhatsApp recently launched Partner Mode for iOS (and is gradually rolling it out to some accounts), we can infer that the next step is to launch an iPad-compatible app,” WABetaInfo said.

The fact that WhatsApp is currently working on getting the app to recognize the iPad as a linked device could confirm that the app will be released soon.

According to the report, the ability to pair your iPad as a companion device in the WhatsApp for Android app is in development and will be released to beta testers in a future update of the app.
