WhatsApp Developing Major Revamp for Android: Get the Details
After iOS, the Meta-owned instant messaging app WhatsApp is reportedly working on a new user interface for Android devices with a white top application bar and a green app name.
“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.18 update available on the Google Play Store, we noticed that WhatsApp introduced several improvements to the app’s top bar for the app’s upcoming update,” WABetaInfo, a tracking site. WhatsApp, reports.
According to the report, the Meta-owned app continues to work on a new user interface, which is expected with the WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.16 update. A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo shows that the new interface will have a white top bar, as opposed to the current green one.
It is important to note that similar changes are in the pipeline for WhatsApp for iOS as well, as spotted in the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.17.1.77 update from TestFlight. This gives further confirmation that WhatsApp is working to bring both apps to a similar interface and features, even if the Android app is clearly in line with Material Design 3 guidelines.
A new user interface with a white top app bar and a green app name is under development and will be available in a future update of the app. Meanwhile, the Meta-owned app is rolling out a feature to edit posts in community announcement groups. This feature allows users to edit and edit the content of messages they have previously sent, provided it is within 15 minutes of posting.
The report suggested that this feature is even more useful in community announcement groups. The ability to edit messages in community notification groups is currently only available to select beta testers who have installed the latest updates to WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store. WhatsApp is also developing a new privacy feature that protects the IP address in calls.
