WhatsApp is experimenting with a new feature called ‘Reply Bar’ for status updates.
WhatsApp is constantly adding new features to keep the user experience fresh and updated. Now, the newest feature that is expected to come soon to the Meta-owned app is a reply bar for status updates.
As reported by WABetaInfo , this feature, which is currently in beta, allows users to easily interact with another user’s status update. Because it is always visible, it can increase interaction, eliminating the need to swipe up on the answer menu. In a way, this is quite similar to Instagram where you can reply directly to stories.
According to the report, this feature is available for both Android and iOS users.
Who is it coming to?
The status update response bar is available for beta users who install the latest available beta version for Android from the Google Play Store. If you’re using iOS, you’ll need the latest WhatsApp beta version for iOS from the TestFlight app.
Considering it’s already entered beta, it shouldn’t be too long before it’s available to all users.
In related news, WhatsApp is finally introducing support for “look once” voice messages that disappear after being heard. This is an addition to the app’s already existing feature that allows you to send “View Once” photos and videos. With this WhatsApp feature, the voice messages you send will be automatically destroyed when they are played back. Meta points out that this would add extra privacy to users.
