WhatsApp Introduces Search Functionality For Updates Section

Popular instant messaging app WhatsApp is currently working on several new features to make its platform more user-friendly. Now, a new report suggests that the Meta-owned app will now introduce a search feature on the Updates tab, making it easier to find status updates and channels.

“This feature has already been rolled out to some Android beta testers with the recent WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.21.7 update, and we just noticed that WhatsApp has now launched the search feature on the iOS app as well,” WABetaInfo, a tracking site. WhatsApp, reports.

According to the report, the new search bar in the Updates tab is available to some beta testers after installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.21.1.72 update from TestFlight.

“The feature also allows users to search for followed channels directly from the new search bar, as it can be complicated to find specific channels from the growing list of followed updates,” WABetaInfo said.

In addition, users who have decided not to follow any channel now have the option to collapse the recommended channels section.

The report suggested that this feature was needed because searching for status updates in the new Updates tab was complicated. Thanks to this, the instant messaging app finally brings back the search feature for status updates and makes it easier to find channels you follow.

“We believe the update also reinforces their commitment to listening to user feedback, as many users don’t want to see recommended channels in the new Updates tab, which improves the user experience.” WhatsApp tracking app said.

The search feature in the Updates tab is currently available to select beta testers who have installed the latest WhatsApp beta updates via the TestFlight app on iOS. It will gradually become available to more people in the coming days.
