WhatsApp Introducing Avatar Responses To Status Posts

WhatsApp, a platform owned by Meta, is reportedly working on a feature that will respond to status updates using avatars. With this, the instant messaging app aims to improve engagement with status updates, making it easier for users to express their feelings.

“Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.9 update, we can now announce that WhatsApp will bring the avatar reply feature in an upcoming update to the app,” WABetaInfo reported.

A screenshot shared by WABetaInfo showed that you can still react to a status update with an emoji. However, the Meta-owned app also plans to expand this feature by introducing the option to reply with an avatar.

Since the user only has eight emojis available with the standard reaction feature, he can respond to a status update by selecting one of the eight Avatars. This definitely improves the overall experience when responding to status updates.

According to the report, offering users the ability to respond to a status update using avatars offers clear advantages over responding with one of the eight available emojis. This is particularly useful because an avatar allows users to better express their emotions and overcome the limitations often imposed by the concise language of emoji.

The inclusion of avatars encourages users to respond when an emoji isn’t enough, it added. The feature to respond to status updates using avatars is under development and will be available in a future update of the app.

Meanwhile, HD video feature is available for WhatsApp users, which basically means that the video content that you want to share with friends or family will not be compressed and transmitted in HD or 1280×720 pixels resolution.

The feature is rolling out to WhatsApp users on Android this week, and just like the HD photo option, users have to manually select the quality they want to send the video at.
