It is important to note that the text recognition feature is not compatible with images that have been submitted “view once” for privacy reasons. Also, this feature is only for iOS 16 users as WhatsApp relies on iOS 16 APIs to recognize text on images. WhatsApp has been testing this feature for a while and it was only available with WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.1.0.73.
In addition to the text recognition feature, iOS users can now enjoy two new WhatsApp features: a tool that turns images into stickers and a “voice status updates” feature that allows users to share voice notes via Status. Voice notes can be up to 30 seconds long and can also be forwarded from chats to space.
