WhatsApp unveils three new security features to protect users: All details here
Just a day after announcing the “Stay Safe with WhatsApp” campaign, the Meta-owned messaging platform has announced three new security-focused features to protect user accounts.
New features; Namely, account protection, device verification and automatic security codes will be introduced in the coming months.
WhatsApp is adding new features over the next few months:
Account protection
Now, if you want to switch to a new device, WhatsApp may ask you to accept the switch from your old device in future updates, giving you an extra layer of protection.
Device verification
This feature protects users from on-device malware attacks and is reportedly built into the security suite and requires no effort from the user themselves. So you can continue using WhatsApp as before and the application will take care of your account automatically.
Automatic security codes
With automatic security codes, WhatsApp has made it easy for users to ensure that their conversations are encrypted and secure. Users can now quickly check a secure connection by tapping on the encryption tab found in contacts.
This is done through a process called “Key Transparency”. And with it, “you can automatically ensure that you have a secure connection. It means for you that when you click on the encryption tab, you can immediately ensure that your personal conversation is protected,” WhatsApp said.
