Xiaomi 13 series release round: Leica cameras, fast charging and more
The Xiaomi 13 series will be launched ahead of this weekend’s Mobile World Congress 2023 (MWC 2023) in Barcelona. The company plans to finally show its Leica-powered cameras in front of a global audience. Flagship phones also appeal to people who want to upgrade and try other brands.
Xiaomi has already given us a teaser of its Leica cameras with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra last year, which was limited to China. But now it promises that the fun has only just begun, and with the Xiaomi 13 Pro, things are likely to be kicked up a notch. So here we give you all the details about the Xiaomi 13 series when they are released and the possible price in India.
Xiaomi 13 series – what to expect
The Xiaomi 13 series comes with a vanilla model and a Pro version, which is likely to include all the premium features and limelight. Xiaomi’s teasers suggest that both models will feature a Leica-tuned camera, but we’d like to wait and see if the company makes those claims as well. The Xiaomi 13 could go up against the OnePlus 11 and iQOO 11 smartphones, while the Xiaomi 13 Pro could go up against the Pro in the market.
Flagship power
Xiaomi is the latest brand to use the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset, which we have already seen in the OnePlus 11 and iQOO 11 in the market. Xiaomi could offer both phones up to 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, which is unlikely to get an expandable slot. The new chipset has managed to improve power management and we expect the Xiaomi 13 phones to benefit from these updates.
Leica Cameras Showstopper
Xiaomi and Leica announced their collaboration a few years ago, and since then we’ve been waiting to see how these companies build a competent mobile product. The Xiaomi 12S Ultra had an intriguing trailer and now we’re ready for the full movie as the Xiaomi 13 Pro is heavily marketed with a Leica camera. The camera samples shown on social media have also got us excited and we can’t wait to get our hands on the phone to see its quality.
Design important
Xiaomi could also use a similar tactic for both models. The vanilla Xiaomi 13 is expected to have a flat Full HD+ AMOLED screen with a high refresh rate. The Xiaomi 13 Pro could have a curved display, which should give you a QHD+ resolution, as well as an LTPO panel for adaptive refresh rate.
Xiaomi 13 series pricing – can they do it again?
Xiaomi is known for its aggressive pricing strategy, but even the most optimistic have been wary of guessing the price of Leica-powered phones. The vanilla model should be available around Rs 60,000 to compete, but with the 13 Pro, we’re not sure how high-end the company plans to go.
