Xiaomi to Release Foldable Phone Equipped With Leica Cameras in the Coming Month
In the upcoming weeks, the focus will be on foldable devices as Samsung has recently introduced its latest Galaxy Z Flip and Fold models. Adding to the excitement, Xiaomi has now announced that its highly anticipated Mix Fold 3 foldable model will be released in August. Judging by the teasers, there are compelling reasons to anticipate this product.
Xiaomi plans to use its Leica camera partnership to improve the imaging technology of its next foldable device. In fact, the Weibo teaser talks about a new quad-camera setup developed by both companies, which is a pretty good reason to be excited on its own. However, the innovation likely ends there, as the company is now using an improved design in the foldable mode, which should provide the Mix Fold 3 with extra durability.
In terms of cameras, Xiaomi has shown that its Leica partnership is meant to deliver serious solutions, as seen with the Xiaomi 12S Ultra, Xiaomi 13 Pro and Xiaomi 13 Ultra this year. The Mix Fold 3 gets a quad camera, so we could have a 1-inch sensor combined with an ultra-wide sensor and a couple of telephoto sensors, making the whole package attractive and versatile.
We’re sure the company will share more teasers for the Mix Fold 3 during the launch event next month. The hardware is probably the best in the segment and is powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 12 or even 16GB of RAM. While all these features are promising, it all depends on the finesse of the foldable and Xiaomi needs to ensure that the device is stylish and compact, which seems possible when talking about its new design.
Samsung has moved on to the fifth generation of its foldable devices this week, while Xiaomi is gearing up for its third iteration of the Mix Fold. However, the Chinese company is yet to go global with a product that will test its true credentials, only then could it take care to compete against the big boys in the segment.
