iPhone 15 Pro Equipped with USB C Port, But No Fast Charging Capability
The iPhone 15 series feels like a significant upgrade over its predecessor, at least in terms of hardware features. You also have a USB C port for the first time on an iPhone, and there’s no doubt that external factors forced Apple to make this change. The new charging standard is available on all models of the iPhone 15 series, including the vanilla iPhone 15.
However, the iPhone 15 Pros will get a faster USB C 3.0 version, which means data transfer speeds of up to 10 Gbps, as the company mentioned during the event.
But it is also expected that an iPhone with a USB C port will offer a faster charging speed than before, and these claims can be guaranteed by Xiaomi, Oppo and OnePlus, which have phones on the market with 200W charging speed. The new iPhone 15 series, especially the Pro and Pro Max versions, support the same charging speeds as last year’s iPhones.
Apple did not go into details about the charging speeds for the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max at Rs 1,34,900 and Rs 1,59,900, respectively, which means there has been no change. And when you hear details like a 50 percent charge in 30 minutes, it’s clear that the company continues to offer one of the slowest charging speeds on smartphones you can get these days.
Even the wireless charging standard that the new iPhone 15 series supports, Qi2 Wireless, is not even compatible with many chargers on the market. So unless Apple or other brands like Belkin introduce compatible units, iPhone 15 Pro and 15 Pro Max buyers will have to rely on their slow charging speeds to drain the battery.
The two big differences you get from the iPhone’s USB C charging port are that you can connect the device to an external 4K display and also use it to charge Apple AirPods (with USB C) and Apple Watch, thanks, but with a built-in wired reverse charging feature. It’s not just Apple that is guilty of giving USB C slow charging speeds, as even Samsung and Google have been equally guilty in this regard, and we hope this changes in the coming year.
