WhatsApp To Introduce Short Video Messages Feature For iOS and Android Users
According to reports, WhatsApp, which is owned by Meta, is preparing to introduce a new feature called video messages that will allow users to share brief videos of up to 60 seconds on both iOS and Android devices. The feature is currently being tested by a limited number of beta testers and will be made available to more users in the coming weeks.
This feature makes it possible to share short videos of up to 60 seconds, providing users with an improved way to quickly interact with videos.
“After installing the latest WhatsApp beta for iOS 23.12.0.71 update available from TestFlight and WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.13.4 update from Google Play Store, we noticed that WhatsApp is enabling the ability to record and send video messages Some happy beta testers” , WABetaInfo said.
The easiest and fastest way to check if video message recording is allowed on your WhatsApp account is to tap the microphone button on the chat bar in any conversation. If it turns into a video camera button, you can record video messages starting today.
When you send or receive a video message, you need to zoom in by tapping the video once if you want to listen to the audio, as shown in the screenshot below. Note that you should ask the recipient to update their WhatsApp version in order to receive your video messages.
Because a video message is recorded and broadcast in real time, it offers an immediate feel compared to a pre-recorded video that can be saved for later broadcast. When recipients receive a video message, they can detect that it was recently recorded, significantly improving its authenticity, WABetaInfo reports.
It is important that video messages are always end-to-end encrypted so that no one outside the conversation, not even WhatsApp, can access them. Although video messages cannot be forwarded directly through the app, it is still possible to record them using screen recording, since they are not sent in one-time viewing mode.
The ability to record and share video messages is available to some beta testers who install the latest version of WhatsApp beta for iOS from the TestFlight app and WhatsApp beta for Android from the Google Play Store, and is rolling out to more users in the coming weeks.
