Users Can Now Record and Share Video Messages on WhatsApp

On Thursday, Mark Zuckerberg, the CEO of Meta, unveiled a fresh addition to WhatsApp that enables its users to send brief video messages.

Taking to his official Facebook handle, Zuckerberg shared an introductory video with the caption “New to WhatsApp – we’re adding the ability to instantly record and share a video message in your WhatsApp chats. It’s as easy as sending a quick voice message.”

According to a statement shared by the WhatsApp team, WhatsApp voice messages changed the way people communicate by providing a fast and secure way to share your voice. Now you can record and share short personal videos directly in the chat.

Video messages are a real-time way to reply to conversations with whatever you want to say and show in 60 seconds.

Sending a video message is as easy as sending an audio message. Just tap to switch to video mode and hold to record the video. Users can also swipe up to lock and save the video hands-free. Videos will automatically play muted when opened in a chat, and tapping on a video will start audio. Video messages are protected with end-to-end encryption to keep your messages safe.

Video messages have started rolling out and will be available to everyone in the coming weeks.
