Android Devices That Will No Longer Be Compatible With WhatsApp After October: Complete List

WhatsApp is used by billions, but soon the number of users may decrease as the messaging app stops working on old versions of Android. WhatsApp does it regularly so that the messaging app is available for the latest devices and all other Android versions that can support all its features.

Google also has a schedule for when Android versions lose official support, making them vulnerable to security risks, and WhatsApp follows those changes to keep its millions of users safe from potential threats.

Chances are, most of you are already using Android phones whose versions are not nearly outdated, but still WhatsApp shares information about Android versions that are not compatible with the app. The new list of phones that will stop supporting WhatsApp starting in October includes all devices running Android 4.1 or older.

Android phones that do not support WhatsApp

The list of phones running Android 4.1 is quite outdated and includes phones from Sony Ericsson, LG Optimus and HTC among others. Here is the complete list

– Samsung Galaxy S2

– Sony Xperia Z

Motorola Xoom

– HTC Desire HD

– LG Optimus 2X

– HTC Sensation

– Nexus 7

– HTC One

– Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc3

WhatsApp has given a deadline of October 24 to support these phones. After that, you need an Android phone with version 5.0 or higher to use the messaging app. Likewise, iPhone users must have iOS 12 or later installed.

You can check the version of Android on your phone by going to Settings – About phone – Software information. Android versions that are not supported by WhatsApp will not allow you to send or receive messages.
