Experience Android 14 First on the iQOO 12 – India’s First Non-Pixel Phone!
The iQOO 12 will be launched in India as the country’s first Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 smartphone, but the brand will have another first when the product is announced next month. iQOO has confirmed that the brand’s new flagship phone will come with Android 14, making it the first non-Pixel phone to have the version in the country.
The iQOO will continue to use Vivo’s Funtouch OS skin and will therefore be based on Android 14, which is definitely good to see from the company as more Android 14-based phones are coming to the country in early 2024. In China, the company uses OriginOS’ custom UI, but it looks like they will continue to use Funtouch in other markets.
The iQOO 12 will launch in the country on December 12 and has already hit online platforms, giving us a closer look at the new camera layout and other expected features.
The brand has not revealed the details of the phone’s camera and battery, but based on the model previously launched in China, we expect to see a triple rear camera and fast charging. The iQOO 12 should be available in the black and white color variants we’ve seen from the company before, but we’re not sure if buyers in India will be spoiled for choice with multiple RAM and storage options.
iQOO 12 Expected Specifications
According to available details, the iQOO 12 could feature a 144Hz OLED display with a peak brightness of 3000 nits, one of the best on the market. The phone is offered with up to 16GB of RAM and 1TB of storage, but in India we expect the brand to offer 12GB and 256GB variants to keep the price competitive.
The phone is rumored to have a 5,000mAh battery that supports 120W wired fast charging, but wireless charging may again be missing. Considering all these features, it is likely that the iQOO 12 could be priced around Rs 55,000 in India, giving it a solid foothold ahead of the launch of the Xiaomi 14 series and OnePlus 12 early next year.
