Why iPhones Are A Smash In India But Macs and iPads Are Not: The Surprising Reason!

Apple has definitely grown as a brand in the Indian smartphone market with special deals and offers on old iPhones and the appeal of new iPhones. Industry numbers clearly show its growing market share and you can get an idea of its demand from the number of people using iPhone around you these days.

Apple’s upcoming results will also show these numbers, especially iPhone sales in the final months of the quarter. However, the company may have to revise its strategy for other products such as MacBooks and iPads in the country.

Industry reports suggest that Mac shipments are likely to be lower than before in India this year, and the same could be true for iPads. In addition to these, Apple is also faltering in the market with AirPods and Apple Watch, which many call a price-sensitive country.

But here’s the thing, iPhones are growing and will likely continue to grow in the coming quarters, even if they cost a higher price, so why aren’t other Apple products in similar demand among buyers? It all depends on the prices of other Apple devices like MacBook.

As an example, the new MacBooks start at Rs 1,30,000 in the country. Meanwhile, you have the MacBook M1 model, which has been sold for as low as Rs 60,000 during a recent online sale, which became a big hit with buyers. So it’s not that people don’t want to buy other Apple products, it’s just that they’re outrageously expensive and buyers have more options in that category, especially when a Windows laptop under Rs 100,000 costs you powerful data.

Even AirPods will sell when it is available for Rs 10,000, which is not possible when the 2nd generation AirPods Pro costs more than Rs 20,000. Most of the market is dependent on low-cost earbuds that cost a fraction of the price of AirPods.

Apple doesn’t make anything other than the iPhone in the country, and importing Macs and the Apple Watch means the company has to pay duties to get them to market, which is always passed on to customers. Changes are likely to happen in the coming years, but Apple still has a long way to go before becoming a strong force in the laptop, smartwatch and audio markets in the country.
