Indian Government Issues Major Security Warning to Apple MacBook, Apple Watch, and Apple TV Users: Here’s What You Need to Know

Apple users in India have received a major security warning from the government this week. The country’s security agency, the Indian Computer Emergency Response Team (CERT-In), has issued a new security advisory dated March 19, warning users of Apple Watch, Apple TV, Mac and even Vision Pro. This risk can allow attackers to remotely access your devices to expose personal and confidential information and cause serious problems on the targeted system.

Apple security warning in India March 2024: what’s the problem?

So what’s the biggest concern about the latest security risk? CERT-In cites security vulnerabilities in Apple products that could allow an attacker to access sensitive data, execute arbitrary code, bypass security restrictions, and gain additional privileges on the target system.

Interestingly, the problem affects Vision Pro, Apple TV HD, 4K models, Apple Watch Series 4 and newer models, and almost all MacBooks launched in the last few years.

The best way to prevent major security issues affecting your Apple device is to update the software to the latest version that the company may have released. You can go to General – Settings – Software Update and install if a new version is immediately available.
