Prevent Meta From Utilizing Your Private Information To Educate Its Artificial Intelligence Systems
Meta, the parent company of popular social media apps like Facebook, WhatsApp, and Instagram, uses your data for an AI model called Llama 2, which is similar to OpenAI’s GPT models. However, Meta has updated its Facebook Help Center, and now users can remove personal data used to train AI models.
This week, Facebook’s help center on its website received an update. It now has a form called “Generative AI Data Subject Rights”. With this form, users can ask for third-party data used in the training of artificial intelligence models. According to Meta, generative artificial intelligence (generative AI) enables people to quickly create content from existing data, such as text, images and audio
For example, generative AI allows people to easily create new content, such as images to share with friends, and businesses can create text-based answers to their customers’ questions.
Meta says that Generative AI is not a database or a static collection of data, but computer models. These models are a form of artificial intelligence trained on billions of data from different types of data such as text and images.
“By examining this information, it can learn, for example, relationships and associations between different types of content. This way, models are able to create new content when a person gives it instructions or questions. Generative AI can be used to create a variety of content, including text and images,” the company wrote in a blog post.
But Meta’s AI raises privacy concerns because it collects a lot of data from public and licensed sources. According to a report by Business Insider, this information can include personal information such as names, contact information and opinions. The people who own this information may not realize that it is being used to train AI. If you want to delete the information Facebook collects from you for AI models, do the following:
1. Go to the “Generative AI Data Subject Rights” form on Meta’s privacy policy page.
2. Click “Learn more and submit requests here”.
3. Select another option if you want to delete your personal data from external sources used for training.
4. After selecting the option, you must pass the security screening test.
5. That’s all you need to do; your request will be sent.
