Vivo X Fold 3 and Fold 3 Pro Foldable Series Makes Debut in China, Possible Launch in India?
Vivo launched the new X Fold3 and X Fold3 Pro in China this week, with a global launch expected in the coming months. The latest third-generation X Fold series is said to be thinner than the X Fold2, with better cameras and batteries. Both versions of the X Fold3 feature a lightweight carbon fiber hinge that weighs just 14.98 grams and is certified by TUV Rhineland to withstand 500,000 folds.
Compared to the X Fold2, Vivo has improved the phone’s drop resistance; the front is now 11 times more durable, while the rear is 15 times more durable. These flip phones are similar in appearance, with the same displays, carbon fiber hinge, circular rear camera housing, and alarm slider.
Vivo Fold X 3 series features
The phone’s main screen has a diagonal of 8.03 inches and a resolution of 2480 x 2200 pixels. The refresh rate of the screen is 120 Hz and the peak brightness is up to 4,500 nits. The display on the cover is 6.53 inches, giving you a resolution of 1172 x 2748 pixels and the same screen refresh rate as the primary screen. In addition to this, the inner screen has an impact-resistant film and uses UTG (Ultra Thin Glass).
The X Fold3 Pro is 11.2mm thick when folded, while the standard X Fold3 is 10.2mm when folded. The X Fold3 weighs 219 grams, while the Fold 3 Pro model weighs 236 grams.
The X Fold3 Pro is powered by the new Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset and is available in two configurations: 16GB RAM with 512GB storage and 16GB RAM with 1TB storage. It uses LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.0 storage. The phone also has a custom vivo V3 imaging chip.
With the Fold X 3, you get the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with up to 16 GB of RAM and 1 TB of storage space. The X Fold3 Pro’s main camera is a 50-megapixel ultra-sensor camera with a 1/1.3 OmniVision OV50H sensor and an f/1.68 lens with optical image stabilization (OIS). It also has a 64-megapixel 3x telephoto camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. The selfie module has two 32 megapixel sensors.
The X Fold3 has a 50-megapixel Sony main camera, a 50-megapixel portrait camera and a 50-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera. Selfie cameras remain unchanged.
The Pro model has a 5,700 mAh battery, while the X Fold3 has a 5,500 mAh battery. The Pro supports 100W wired charging and 50W wireless charging, while the X Fold3 only supports 80W wired charging. The Pro version has two 3D ultrasonic fingerprint readers and gets an IPX8 rating for water resistance. The X Fold3 has a fingerprint sensor on the side and is IPX4 waterproof.
Vivo X Fold 3 series price
The Vivo X Fold 3 12GB RAM with 256GB storage models costs CYN 6,999 (Rs 81,920 approx), and the 16GB RAM and 1TB storage model costs CYN 8,999 (Rs 1.03 lakh approx).
The Vivo X Fold 3 Pro starts at CYN 9,999 (Rs 1.17 lakh approx) for the base 16GB and 512GB models, while the 1TB variant costs CYN 10,999 (Rs 1.28 lakh approx). Vivo is rumored to be bringing the new foldable devices to the Indian market for the first time, and based on the features, we hope the Pro version will make it to the country in some form and not the Fold X 3, which has an older chipset. Vivo takes on Samsung, OnePlus and Tecno in the foldable segment.
