WhatsApp Introduces Ability to Send High-Quality Videos
WhatsApp is widely regarded as the leading messaging app in various regions, notably India. While the app’s ability to send media like photos and videos is highly favored, users frequently express dissatisfaction with the diminished quality of shared content caused by data compression on WhatsApp.
But now WABetaInfo is reporting that a new feature on WhatsApp will allow users to send high-quality videos within the app. This follows a recent update where WhatsApp introduced the ability to send high-resolution images with better quality and without losing their original dimensions.
High Quality WhatsApp Videos: How Does It Work?
WhatsApp adds a new button to the drawing editor that allows users to send high-quality videos. The video resolution is preserved, but some compression is still used. That is, even if the videos are not shared in their original quality, the quality is still better than the videos shared on the platform. WhatsApp still uses the “standard quality” setting by default, and users have to select the “high quality” option every time they want to share a video.
To check if the feature is enabled on your WhatsApp account, try sending a large, high-quality video file. If the high quality option appears, the feature is enabled. WABetaInfo notes that when users share a video using the high-quality option, it will be marked as a high-quality video in the conversation.
When will it be released; Eligibility?
WhatsApp is currently rolling out the ability to send high-quality videos to some beta testers who have updated WhatsApp beta to Android version 2.23.14.10 from the Google Play Store. The feature is expected to be available to all users soon.
