WhatsApp Introduces Feature Allowing Multiple Accounts on Single Android Device
WhatsApp is testing a new multi-account feature that aims to answer long-standing requests from users to allow them to add a different account to the same device without running parallel or cloned apps.
The Meta-owned app also introduces a redesigned settings interface that offers a more modern experience for browsing the various options of the instant messaging app.
“The update also includes a redesigned profile tab right in the chat list, making it easier for users to access the app’s settings,” WABetaInfo reported.
In addition to allowing you to use multiple WhatsApp accounts on a single device, WhatsApp makes it simple to keep conversations and notifications from different accounts separate. Currently, you can only add one additional account to your WhatsApp app, but this limit may expand in a future update.
Who is it available to?
A new update (WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.18.21) that includes the ability to add multiple accounts and an updated settings app is reportedly coming to WhatsApp’s Android beta testers and is expected to reach a wider user base soon.
If you are using the public version of WhatsApp on Android, you cannot experience the update yet. However, since it is in beta testing, it is likely that Meta will release it in a future stable version. In the meantime – if you can’t wait – you have the opportunity to sign up as a beta tester.
