Jaishankar states that India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission received admiration from various regions across the globe.
On Friday, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar expressed admiration for the accomplished soft landing of India’s ambitious Chandrayaan-3 mission on the lunar south pole, which garnered praise from a significant portion of the global community.
India’s strategy is to maximize opportunities and minimize risks as technology has huge potential for dizzying development, he said at the event.
“I was at the BRICS (Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa) meeting with the Prime Minister (Narendra Modi) when Chandrayaan-3 (mission) successfully landed on the moon,” the former bureaucrat said.
“I can’t tell you the impact it had. There were African leaders and the feeling that much of the world felt was admiration that you (India) did it,” he added.
Chandrayaan-3 was India’s third journey to the moon and its second attempt to perform a soft landing on the lunar surface. India became the fourth country after Russia, the US and China to make a soft landing on the moon and the first country to touch down on the uncharted South Pole.
The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) successfully placed the Vikram lander on the lunar surface and rolled out the robotic rover, Pragyaan.
Jaishankar was speaking at the 20th National Summit ‘Take Pride 2023’ organized by Young Indians – the youth wing of the Confederation of Indian Industry.
When thinking about India, the three Ts come to mind – talent, technology and tradition, Jaishankar – referring to his recent business meeting in Sweden – said that the members were from different Nordic countries and the discussion was on telecommunications.
“You know, talking about telecommunications to the Nordic countries is like talking about cricket to India. But the focus of the topic was India’s 5G network and its deployment, which is happening today at such an incredible pace,” he said.
He said several Fortune 500 companies are doubling or tripling their investments in India because of the talent available in the country.
“Brand India is a combination of what we are and who we are. Our achievements and contributions only highlight our heritage and culture,” the minister said.
“In a technology-driven world, India’s strategy is to maximize opportunities and minimize risks. Technology has enormous potential for dizzying growth. The world admires our digital public infrastructure,” Jaishankar said.
“Amrit Kaal belongs to young Indians. In this decade, Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s government has laid a strong foundation to realize the goal of Viksit Bharat (developed India),” he said.
